The much-anticipated third season of Bridgerton premiered on May 16 and quickly became one of Netflix's top 10 most-watched shows less than 24 hours after it was released.
Fans absolutely adored the long-awaited pairing of Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton), even if the first half of the season did end with a spicy cliffhanger.
However, some took issue with this season's historical beauty inaccuracies.
Viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok to complain about everything from the acrylic nails to fake lashes featured in the steamy period piece, as well as accusing several stars of undergoing tweakments.

Viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok to complain about everything from the acrylic nails to fake lashes, while also accusing some stars of undergoing tweakments
On TikTok, US-based content creator Daryl suggested that actor Luke Newton, who plays Colin, had Botox as part of his glow up to play the leading man, claiming that this may have made it harder for him to brood accordingly.
'Breaking down all the Bridgerton Botox things in case anyone else is wondering why Colin Bridgerton's face might be throwing them off or giving them the ick,' Daryl said in her caption.
The TikTok user then clarified that she was not trying to criticize Luke for any cosmetic treatments he may or may not have undergone, but rather trying to call out the 'Bridgerton team' for their 'heavy handed' take on the stars' appearances in the latest season.
'This is a critique of the Bridgerton styling team who was generally very heavy handed this season across the board and not a critique of Luke Newton who looks amazing in real life likely because some of these treatments have worn off,' she went on.
Many commenters agreed with the original creator, with one viewer pointing out the pouting hero, who is meant to be 24, 'looked so confused whenever he was meant to look enamored/alluring,' adding, 'this explains so much.'
Others thought it might be the 31-year-old actor's makeup, with one explaining, 'Dude he was airbrushed to have no pores too it was a freaking combo.'
This wasn't the only aesthetic complaint about the Julia Quinn series-turned-wildly popular TV show, which is loosely set in 1815 in London during the Regency period.
US-based content creator Audi Laurent shared a TikTok posing the question, 'Why does she have on acrylics?' referring to Penelope's long, baby pink manicure, which is seen before the infamous carriage scene takes place.
'She's a time traveler,' a commenter quipped, as another wrote, 'The smoky eye with crystals it was giving Coachella,' in reference to her bold, bronzed eyeshadow.

'No because I saw that immediately!!! Does the modiste have a nail tech?' a viewer cracked.
One put all of the critics in their place by saying: 'There's also Pitbull playing I don't think it's for accuracy.'
Another major complaint was that many of the main characters, and specifically Francesca Bridgerton, who is meant to be 18 but is played by 29-year-old actress Hannah Dodd, because she appeared to be wearing fake lashes or lash extensions.
One 25-year-old New York City-based content creator who makes videos as The Groovy Booty pointed out the false lashes in a video she captioned: 'Everyone is giving iPhone face not going to lie. Also why was Penelope wearing acrylics?'
Many commenters said the fake lashes and nails bothered them, but others appreciated how modern the Netflix hit is, from the soundtrack to the inclusivity.
'Sorry but who is watching these for the historical accuracy?' one fan questioned.

'Bridgeton is like what if the regency era had jaw implants and acrylics?' a watcher tweeted.
'Colin Bridgerton went abroad to get a lip flip and preventative Botox,' a viewer alleged.
One person on X summed up the controversy by tweeting: 'For the love of god no one is watching Bridgerton for historical accuracy, please shut up.'
